Window Screens

After a month of software-heavy posts, I thought I'd have a quick post on a different kind of windows.

Instead, today I simply want to post to this video on How to build a window screen. During this last summer, I had the opportunity to build one with my father-in-law, and it was a fun project that took maybe a half hour and change.

It turns out that you don't just buy window screens (the thingy that keeps bugs out), because of the variety of available sizes, and so the thing to do is buy the parts and put the thing together.

We made quick trip to the local Home Depot and bought a kit including the frame, screen, and tool to push the rubber that seals around the screen, then bought a small saw to cut the metal frame tracks to size.

The only bit of prep was measuring the window to make sure we got something large enough (but not too large).

If you're bored in the dark months of northern winter, consider doing a bit of housework with someone you care for. There's a good feeling of satisfaction included in the payoff.

Happy window screen building!
