In the US, Halloween is really a time for kids to go crazy about candy.
Halloween wasn't really a thing in Argentina, so I had to work a bit to learn about it. It turns out that Halloween, as a celebration ends up being many things.
As a young adult, this was all about parties, wildly different levels of effort put into costumes, and haunted house attractions.
As a parent, this is about figuring out costumes, stocking up on candy, planning a good trick-or-treat route and deciding how invested your really want to be in decorations.
As a kid (as far as I can tell) it's about anticipation, costumes, candy, going out with friends, and balancing scary-fun and scary-scary.
For such a simple holiday, there's a surprising number of ways to approach it - and I'm just scratching the surface here.
Happy Halloween!
