Recently I had a hard problem to solve under a tight deadline. The problem as such wasn't as hard technically, as much as it needed multiple rounds of review from multiple people and would have to be done at a very high quality with a very, very short window of time.
I found a creative way to work around the issue, which consisted of mostly ignoring the problem and compensating for it in a very different way, at a point far away in the overall system, in a way that wasn't at all sustainable. But that still met business goals and ended up being a rather clever solution in this one instance.
So, a bit of a proud moment in particular, but a hard cringe in general.
The Incredibles movies ends with the Underminer showing up and belting out what is (in my head at least) his catchphrase, which I abridged to "Behold, the Underminer! Nothing is beneath me!"
Remember - solutions that don't scale to problems that don't need scale are fine. Just make sure you're making a call with a clear perspective.
Enjoy your right-sized solutions!
